Sorrento, Italy: August 8th

(Alrighty folks, this one is a picture heavy post.)

Welcome to Sorrento Italy!

For those of you who didn't know, Sorrento, Italy is the home of Pompeii. This city was destroyed by a volcanic explosion a looooong time ago. Anyway, on with the pictures!

After a long day walking through the streets of Pompeii, we went to eat at a streetside cafe. The food was deeeelish!

Now you see it...

Now you don't!

Messina, Italy : August 7th

Here we are in Messina Italy, the home of:

Mt. Etna...

Actually, in more recent years, Messina Italy is famous because it is located on Sicily, the home of Vito Corleone. AKA the Godfather. Here's Yoojin on some street in some city square. (Can you tell I wasn't paying attention?)

Yoojin in front of some fountain :)

I tried to be artistic and take this picture of our shadows.
I don't think it worked out very well.

In Messina, we tried Granitas for the first time and they were REALLY good. Basically, granitas are basically like the slushy drinks you can find at some gas stations, but what made these different was that they were made of real fruit. Did I say they were really good?
I had the Strawberry one.

Yoojin had the Lemon one.

And there you have it folks, Messina, Italy :)

Valetta, Malta: August 6th

Welcome to Valetta, Malta!

There really wasn't too much to see or do in Valetta, but we did end up visiting a winery and do some wine tasting which was pretty fun. But before we got there...

Here's me and some colorful boats :)

I took this glamor shot of Yoojin

Here's another picture of Yoojin striking a pose at the winery

Cheers!

Yo, Whuddup?

Corfu, Greece: August 4th

In Corfu Greece, we started off by going to the Achillion Palace.

Just in case you didn't believe us, here is the sign :P

And Yoojin in front of the front gate.

As it turns out, some princess built this palace in honor of Achilles.  No, Achilles did not look like Brad Pitt.

I think Brad Pitt had a better costume no?

Here's Achilles with the famous arrow in his heel.

Here's me standing next to a statue in the courtyard of the palace.

One thing that we noticed about Greece was that they had beautiful beaches.  You can't really tell from this picture, but the water is so clean and clear.  You can see straight down to the bottom.  It made us want to jump right in.

Here's a view of the water :)

Kotor, Montenegro: August 3rd

Alrighty then, here we are in Kotor, Montenegro :)

We took this twisty road up a couple thousand feet above sea level.  The road had something like 25 hairpin curves that were carved into the mountain.  If you're not impressed, you should be.  Every one of those 25 hairpin curves are done by a big huge tourist bus!  But, enough talking! Onto the  pictures!

Here we are at the top of the mountain looking down.

They also provided us with another snack

They also gave us this drink they called "Honey wine" but it wasn't alcoholic at all.  It tasted like water with honey diluted into it :)

We found these two dolls all over the place in Montenegro for some reason.  Yoojin decided to take a picture with one of them.

Here I am posing for a picture... in front of a picture :)

Me and a old Triton

Here's Yoojin steering the ship

But everyone knows, a man must steer the ship in any family Muhahaha!

Apparently, this was a famous church dedicated to someone I forget the name of :P

Split, Croatia: August 2nd

We didn't really know what to expect in Split, Croatia especially since just ten years ago, it was threatened by the war in the former Yugoslavia, but it was really a beautiful country.

Here we are on the bus on the way towards the Croatian countryside.

Apparently, Croatian people were known for their singing and so there they were, singing. Actually they were really good. It was kind of nice to be outdoors, having a snack and listening to folk songs, even if we didn't understand what they were saying.

Here's a pic of the prosciutto and cheese that they fed us. I would like to say that it was really good, but it was really way to salty for our palettes.

Here's Yoojin about to enjoy her snack.

And the mineral water that they gave us to drink. I'm not sure why we felt like we needed to take a picture of this, but we did.

There was this nice water mill that seemed like a good place to take a picture next to.

Afterwards, we went into town to see Diocletian's palace. There were some Roman Soldiers still there guarding the place :)

I'm not sure who this is a statue of, but I was inspired to strike a pose.

Here's Yoojin standing next to what I believe is the Eastern Gate (a.k.a. "Silver Gate") of the palace.

And finally, here's Yoojin posing for a picture in the promenade in front of the palace.
